Home is where the heart is.
I think we often forget to appreciate the amazing travel opportunities that exist close to our homes. Lake Quinnault, near Washington state's coast line, is home to some of the most breathtaking hiking trails one could ask for. It is also the considered to be the tipping point that convinced President Roosevelt to declare that area a national forest. It doesn't matter how many times I visit the area, I am awestruck on every visit. Staying at the Lake Quinnault Lodge, with it's amazing foyer, lake views, immense breakfasts and charms of yesteryear, only serves to make the experience that much more outstanding. They even have a hiker's package that includes a wonderful sack lunch to take along on the trails.
