Hit the waves in Lahinch
Some of the beaches on Ireland’s west coast along the Wild Atlantic Way have incredible waves for surfing, especially in winter, and the beach break in the small seaside town of Lahinch in Co Clare is a popular spot for all levels.
There are a couple of surf schools, surf shops with board rental and plenty of cafés and pubs in the town for post-surf refreshments.
Surfing here is tidal (low tide only) so check times and rips with locals. More experienced surfers can tackle the reef nearby at Spanish Point.
For lessons and rentals, check out lahinchsurfschool.com run by former Irish champion and pro surfer, John McCarthy, or for some expert coaching for all levels, book in with benssurfclinic.com
