La Locanda Boutique HotelWhy we love it: A small, stylish stay that tips its hat to the greats of Arabic music
- Guest rooms cleverly themed around famous Arabic musicians
- An on-site bar and restaurant with live music
- A location in the fashionable Jebel Lweibdeh district
La Locanda calls itself Amman’s first themed boutique hotel, and certainly does its best to live up to the description. Across the 14 rooms and suites, the property offers a survey of 20th-century Arabic music, with each accommodation subtly styled in tribute to a famous musician. You might sleep in the Umm Kulthum room, with its headboard that mimics the qanun instrument and radio-turned-side-table that nods to the singer’s weekly broadcasts from Cairo, or the Fairuz room, which features an earthy palette, old wood, and flowers to evoke the musician’s homeland of Lebanon.
Service here is as attentive as the thread count is high. When you’re done with the day, relax in the hotel’s Maestro bar, which continues the musical theme by hosting live shows on the weekends and several performances during the Amman Jazz Festival.
