Street art on the top of the "hill that works"
Although you seriously have to hoof it to reach the top of La Croix Rousse, it's worth it to experience the views, restaurants, traboules (type of alley/walkway only found in Lyon, France), and rich history.
Along the way however, be prepared to be fascinated by street art that covers large expanses of building walls. "L'affichage sauvage" (graffiti) is legal here, so bursts of color and murals are common. Look for signatures or repeated images to google later, so you can discover the hidden social and/or political commentary.
