Stockholm Kulturfestival

Stockholm Kulturfestival offers a mix of music, theater, and other artistry connected to culture—from jazz acts and rock bands to African beats—and you may run into the occasional bleeding zombie walking by as part of the city’s Zombie Walk.

During culture week, Stockholm will be filled with artists, musicians, various performers, acrobats and, yes, a procession of zombies.

Stockholm Fringe Festival

Fresh off the heels of the Stockholm Culture Festival, the Stockholm Fringe Festival (Stoff) offers edgier performances from local and international theater and drama groups and "supports emerging innovative artists who are struggling to develop their work and/or to keep it alive."

Swedish Waffles

Crispy, thin, and buttery, and served with a side of homemade whipped cream and lingonberry jam—this is how the Swedes do waffles. You can find these almost anywhere in the country where they serve fika—a word, no, institution involving coffee, friends, and sweets. The best ones are found at little cafes. Try them and I guarantee you'll never crave a Belgian waffle again.

Note: If you become obsessed, like me, and want to enjoy these at home, pick up a Swedish waffle iron before you leave, at Class Olsson for about $40.
