Kosterhavets National Park

There is a long tradition of protecting nature on land, but protecting nature below sea level is not as common. Kosterhavet National Park is the first marine national park in Sweden, and has the country’s highest marine biodiversity with more than 200 species found nowhere else and one of Sweden’s two coral reefs. The best starting point is the main information center, Naturum, in Ekenäs on South Koster, which has information about the park and region, but the best experiences are on or in the water. Several snorkling trails are available, with easy to follow signs showing the way. Paddling, hiking, birdwatching and fishing are other activities you can do on your own, and guided tours, seal safari, archipelago tours and hiking tours are mostly available in summer.
