Komodo Dragons

The most legendary of the many reptilian and lizard denizens of Komodo, the Komodo dragon is, in fact, a lizard—albeit a very intimidating one. Komodo and Rinca islands, located within Komodo National Park, are the best places to see these fascinating creatures in their natural habitat. The world's largest lizard grows up to three meters (almost ten feet) long and has toxic saliva that helps it kill its primary prey, deer and buffalo. Because the dragons are unpredictable, the safest way to see them is on naturalist-led tours of the park.
