Klungkung Palace

Klungkung Palace, built in 1710 in eastern Bali for the Dewa Agung dynasty, was used until the early 20th century, when much of it was destroyed in an attack by the Dutch. Within the palace, the Kerta Gosa pavilion initially served as the royal court, and its ceiling is richly painted in traditional Balinese style with Hindu icons. Kerta Gosa’s ceiling underwent restoration and rebuilding in the mid-20th century.
