Klondike National Historic Sites of Canada
Part of a proposed Klondike UNESCO site, these Parks Canada attractions include colorful frontier buildings and the Bonanza Creek Discovery Claim that sparked the gold stampede of 1898. Nearby looms North America’s largest wooden-hull bucket-line mining dredge. A favorite stop tends to be the paddle wheeler ss Keno, the last riverboat to travel down the Yukon to Dawson City. A costumed interpreter introduces the ship and evokes a world without roads, where everything from beans to gold dust and evening gowns traveled by water.
