Sunset by the Sea
No trip to Charleston would be complete without spending at least some time by the sea. Nearby you’ll find beaches for every style and season, from the family favorite Isle of Palms to the quiet, exclusive Seabrook Island. Kiawah Island (pictured), located near Seabrook, has ten miles of beaches and five famous golf courses. Sullivan’s Island is the closest to downtown Charleston, at the mouth of the harbor, and manages to fit an impressive amount of charm into its 3.3 square miles. Folly Beach, which calls itself “the Edge of America,” is a favorite for surfers thanks to its laid back atmosphere and live music scene.
