A Spicy Taste of the South
The fiery flavours of southern Thai food are among the nation's punchiest. No small thing when you consider how spicy things can get in the Kingdom. Intrepid diners needn't fear, however, as southern cuisine can offer some seriously rich rewards. A good place to sample the pungent notes of classic southern food is Khua Kling Pak Sod. The signature dish here is gaeng leaung, a soupy curry with fresh fish. Also righteous is the phad sataw (Thai stink beans with shrimp paste), which can be taken up an extra notch with the addition of crispy pork.
