This big iguana walked along the beach as though he owned it. He looked for fruit that fell from the trees along the beach. He seemed to really be enjoying this piece.
This iguana and several others apparently live in the mangroves that grow at the edge of the sandy beaches in Key Largo on the Gulf side of the Keys.
This fellow liked being the center of attention. The little children on the beach were as fascinated with him as he was with them. He would slowly walk the beach crawling under beach lounges and tables. When he was finished with his walk and meal, he would saunter back to his mangroves to rest.
The iguanas were a nice surprise on these tropical beaches. I sat and watched this big guy for a while as I relaxed under a palm tree.
