Traditional Ceremony in Kerala
While staying on a houseboat in the Kerala Backwaters (often called the "Venice
of the East"), we were invited to join a local ceremony. Dressed in the southern, traditional sarees of plain linen, the women danced in a circle around an intricate flower petal arrangement on the ground, singing and chanting. We had such an amazing time- the women taught us all the dances, and afterwards gave us a traditional South Indian meal served on a palm tree leaf.
