There's a plethora of Indian restaurants in Amsterdam, but few are as cute and cozy as Katmandu Kitchen. Managed by a Nepalese family, the tiny gem is set on lovely Elansgracht in the Jordaan. When the weather is nice, a few outdoor tables offer excellent vantage points for watching the world go by.
On the menu are a variety of starters, tandoori and vegetarian dishes, curries and masalas served with intensely flavored sauces and marinades infused with exotic spices. All are reasonably priced and seasoned according to your tolerance for spice. A drink menu includes domestic and imported beers and spirits, as well as traditional ginger tea. Creamy Indian kheer and khafi are among the dessert offerings. Dinner is served nightly at the casual spot.
