The official map of Katara Cultural Village in Doha, Qatar, describes the building in the photo as a Pigeon Tower, although I saw only doves. Katara has many remarkable structures, including the Golden Mosque; an outdoor amphitheatre, recently hosting a multinational production of Aida; gallery spaces where we saw an exhibition of the paintings of the acclaimed Sudanese artist Ibrahim Al Salahi; the Doha Film Institute, which hosts a Doha Tribeca film festival; theatre and concert halls, and to top it off, a falcon clinic and dovecote, all on the shimmering sands of the Arabian Gulf. Katara is indeed an "exceptional project of hope for human interaction through art and cultural exchange".
