Watch Vintage Planes Take Off, Do Tricks, and Land by the Beach
One of the coolest free experiences on Martha's Vineyard is a morning at Katama Airfield to watch the World War II-era planes take off and land. These are no amateur pilots, either: the planes can be seen doing impressive aerial tricks over South Beach just down the road. For breakfast or lunch with a view, head to the Right Fork Diner, which is parked right next to the airfield. Fun fact: The airfield's land is protected because it's home to five different species of endangered plants and animals.
