On a recent visit to Kalaw, Myanmar, I began a trek at sunrise with my affable local guide. We hiked along rolling mountains cloaked in green brush, maneuvering around colorful flower bushes that every so often blocked our path. The cloud-speckled sky shined bright blue all day, making for stunning panoramas. Best of all, very few other tourists were on the trail.
By the end of the day, only my aching feet were ready to return home. The rest of me wanted to remain on the winding trail where every bend revealed an illustrious view. But, the sun was setting and the dark night sky would soon rule.
