Innsbruck’s Shining Imperial Palace
The Gothic style Imperial Palace of Innsbruck was built by Archduke Sigmund the Rich, and standing in front of this grand structure, you acknowledge that nomen est omen indeed. While the palace was built simply for the Archduke’s personal pleasure, it would later become one of the most important residences of the Habsburg family. With its heated banquet halls and other cutting edge amenities, the Hofburg was far ahead of its time and thus made for very comfortable lodging. The palace is a must on any sight-seer’s list and a beautiful reminder of Austria’s imperial history.
