Kabira Bay is the place to go for black pearls. Black pearls are more commonly associated with Tahiti, but because pearl cultivation was first developed in Japan, there are a couple of pearl farms in Okinawa. Black pearls actually range from deep black to a kind of silver. For more color, check out the bay itself—a lot of shades of blue seem to compete for sunlight in its waters. Although it has a perfect beach, no swimming is allowed. It’s not hard to book a glass-bottom boat excursion, though.
