During the first few days in Maui I stayed at the luxurious Kā‘anapali Ali‘i Resort located in Lāhainā.
Unlike other resorts, the Kā‘anapali Ali‘i is actually a group of upscale condominiums and there is definitely a sense of community here. They don't have restaurants on site but there is a special area where families can grill their meats. It's a great way to socialize and meet other visitors.
I traveled in September and it was relatively quiet, which was a refreshing change from New York. I ate breakfast on my balcony as I watched the sunrise through the palm trees. Not a bad way to start the morning!
