Juneau-Douglas City Museum
This bright yellow building with a totem pole outside is impossible to miss. Its permanent collection details Juneau’s history, from its roots as a Tlingit gathering place to its era as a literal gold mine. It’s also the only place in the city you can see a 700-year-old Native fish trap and 100-year-old mining tools up close, objects that reflect the full array of what makes Juneau such a unique place. The roster of temporary exhibits changes often.
