Local Chocolate from the Friendliest Man in Belize
Julio is a Mayan man with a sense of humor and a taste for great chocolate. From the pods to production, you can walk through his chocolate "shop" and he'll explain the whole process. He experiments with local ingredients and cocoa ratios, and while some flavors are unique and some of the darker chocolates intense, they're some of the best I've ever had.
Julio doesn't put preservatives in his chocolate, so they melt quickly in the hot Belizean sun. But it's worth it. Sit and chat with Julio for a bit, try not to melt chocolate all over your hands (you don't want to waste a bite), and enjoy your visit to Maya Center or continue on to the Jaguar Preserve.
