A down-to-earth Boston kid named John Earle was your average 19-year-old working in a local comic book store in 2001, when he began selling limited edition, screen-printed t-shirts emblazoned with a quirky logo out of the back of his car. Earle, also nicknamed, "Johnny Cupcakes," was in a band which toured the country, and he sold shirts along the way.
Demand for the shirts skyrocketed. Earle has since opened "bakeries" in Boston and L.A. If you stop by the shop on Newbury, don’t be surprised if you leave the bakery in a great mood, with an armful of goodies emblazoned with Earle's famous cupcake-and-crossbones logo.
