If anyone asks me where to take overseas visitors in Perth, I say John Forrest National Park. This is West Australia's oldest national park and home to the most chilled out and friendly Kangaroos in the state. The highlight for sure, is sitting in the beer garden at the John Forrest Tavern with Australia's favorite animal who roam freely at the back of the tavern - just watch your drink! Named after West Australia's first premier, John Forrest National Park is also home to some of Perth's best walking trails and natural attractions, including two waterfalls. During spring time, over 500 species of wildflowers are in bloom and the bush comes alive with the sounds of native birds. Enjoy the day at the park with a picnic and make use of the many picnic tables and free barbecues or take up residence in one of the charming wooden huts.
