Indulging in Monte Carlo
If I could choose to indulge anywhere, I'd pick Monte Carlo. At Joel Robuchon's restaurant inside the beautiful Hotel Metropole, my friends and I chose to dine at the chefs table after a night exploring Monaco
. We overlooked Robuchon's open kitchen as a large team of esteemed chefs took delicate care of every course. Sitting among the 2-Michelin Star culinary team, my friends and I felt as though we were part of the action. I admired one particular chef slow cutting perfectly pink salmon, a dish that I'd later sample, and practically die for. After the salmon, we savored every taste of pureed eggplant, served with endless servings of squid-ink rolls and crunchy vegetables. Other menu highlights include the purple artichoke, served with freshly-caught calamari, thyme and chorizo cooked in a tajine dish. As I finished my third course, I admired the lovely dining room, lightly lit with white tablecloths and red accents. It was hard not to feel a bit royal given the formalized service. They rolled carts around as we sipped espresso and red wine. The grand finale of the evening were the perfect strawberry fruit tarts that glistened as they made their way around the dining room. I wouldn't be surprised if they were dusted in gold.
