Scuba Diving in Savusavu, Fiji: Soft Coral Capital of the World
Beneath the rolling waves at the surface lies a colourful, vibrant underwater playground.
Savusavu, on Fiji's second largest island Vanua Levu, is famous for its soft coral diving and variety of coral and fish species. Drift past feather sea stars and watch them gracefully unfold, or float past impressive walls brimming with healthy marine life.
The area is home to many swim-throughs, walls, caves and pinnacles with brightly coloured soft and hard corals in abundance. Expect to see everything from colourful small fish darting in and out of the coral platforms, to large pelagic species, and if you're lucky, the resident scalloped hammerhead sharks.
There are dive sites off Savusavu to suit all levels from beginners to advanced.
