A Hidden Memphis Gem
You need to be in the know to find Itta Bena. Tucked away above B.B. King’s Blues Club on Beale Street, you have to climb an alley fire escape just to access the restaurant. The extra effort is worth it: Itta Bena serves memorable Southern cuisine with an upscale twist. Don’t miss the duck and waffles with blueberry hoison reduction, the blackened Gulf red snapper with spicy andouille hash, or the shrimp and grits with green tomato relish. For dessert the homemade strawberry cake and the white chocolate bread pudding are worth saving room for. Make a reservation online to avoid a wait.
