The Italian War Memorial is located above Argostóli, on a ridge near the road to Lassi. It’s a quiet tribute to the thousands of Italian soldiers who were killed by the Germans in 1943, after Italy agreed to surrender to the Allies. Nearby is one of the actual execution sites, one of many sad reminders of the war on the island.
