It's stiff competition for the best island in Scotland, but Mull must come close to the top. Where else can you go in the height of summer and still find peace and quiet, views to melt the eyes and restaurants to capture your tastebuds? Not to mention the whiskey distillery in Tobermory which makes you feel truly Scottish.
The cove at Calgary is the best beach to spend hours messing around around in the the white sand and turquoise sea, and when you want to see the island from a boat, take a sea safari to spot gannets, seals and, if you're lucky, Minke whales.
The Isle of Mull is such a special place it doesn't matter if it's blowing a gale or drenched in sunshine. And the hair-raising single track roads will add to the rugged adventure and make that wee dram, or two, taken at the end of the day a well-deserved treat.
