Ísafjörður Maritime Museum

Skógarbraut

Spread across three floors in a house that dates back to 1780, this engaging museum focuses on the maritime history of the town and region. The display includes a range of fishing and fish production equipment (including boats), as well as an impressive accordion collection. A video shows local open-boat fishing techniques and gives further insight into the hardships of local life in previous centuries. The museum restaurant serves fish dishes and refreshments.
