InShop Shanghai China
With a luxury-brand mall just above it, this underground labyrinth is a hidden gem in Shanghai’s over-saturated shopping scene. Although not well marked, look for the yellow InShop signs by the Line 7 Metro at Jing’An Temple entrances to discover a space dedicated to Shanghai’s very own designers, labels and “proudly made-in-China” wares. In between stalls boasting artfully draped fabric and peculiar knick-knacks, you’ll find everything from locally crafted chocolates to strong brews of Yunnan-grown coffee. Be sure to head to the far aisle where you’ll find a LOHAS store neighbored by two long shop fronts (D9 and D19, if you can find their markings) that house online marketplace Zocou’s retail space, Shokay’s unbelievably soft yak knitwear, Elke Martini’s Shanghai prints and more — perfect for grabbing a last-minute gift or a special souvenir.
