211 N Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA 92651, USA
Inn at Laguna BeachWhy we love it: Location, location, location. This seaside boutique hotel presides over the heart of Laguna Beach and is dog-friendly
- A dreamy setting and classic beach-bungalow style
- Complimentary wine receptions and a landmark restaurant, Las Brisas
- Overlooks Main Beach, one of the region’s most epic swathes of sand
The review: Galleries, restaurants and nightlife lie just steps from the inn’s door, making this a great choice for those who like to explore on foot. But it also offers up world-class romance with sand, surf and Pacific sunsets... and Heisler Park sprawls along the nearby bluffs for travelers who need to tucker out kids or pets.
The inn underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation in 2012, captained by L.A. interior designer John Cottrell. He employed low-VOC paint, renewable bamboo furniture, and low-flow faucets and showers. Other highlights include tile made from 30% recycled stone and sustainable birch wood key cards.
That attention to detail continues, especially with the property’s breakfast, which features artisanal pastries and options like spinach Florentine wraps and bacon brioche sandwiches. That’s the only meal served on-site, but don’t miss cocktails on the Pacific Terrace Bar, which reveals stunning panoramas of the sea.
The 70 guest rooms mix modern comforts with coastal style like louvered shutters. Nestle into a European-style duvet on a luxurious pillow-top mattress. All rooms also include newspaper delivery, high-speed internet access and iHome docking stations. The loaner umbrellas and beach chairs are a nice grace note. Plump for one of the top-floor Distinctive Suites if you’re splashing out. Both have stunning views from oversized balconies. Guests with disabilities will appreciate rooms with grab bars, ADA-height tubs, and wheelchair-accessible commodes, vanities and doorways. The Inn at Laguna Beach also has fire alarm strobes and hearing-impaired communication kits.
