Ilfracombe Museum

Wilder Rd, Ilfracombe EX34 8AF, UK

At the Ilfracombe Museum, you’ll take a trip back in time, starting in North Devon and continuing around the whole world. The museum’s remarkable collection of artifacts was started by a British Museum curator after his return from South America. The international focus has remained with exhibits ranging from the historic (like military costumes) to the frankly bizarre (pickled bats!). There is also a collection of letters written by Ilfracombe locals who served during World War I. The museum is staffed by friendly local volunteers and, with their knowledge not only about the exhibits but Ilfracombe in general, they are an invaluable resource.
