I spent a few hours touring the Île d'Orléans, an island located along the Saint Lawrence River and about three miles east of downtown Québec.
If you rent a car, it’s very easy to drive here for a few hours or for the entire day. If you don’t have transportation, you can hop on the Plu Mobile (plumobile.ca) for about $4 each way. You can even bring your bike on the bus with you or just rent some once you arrive to the island.
There are six different villages on Île d'Orléans but in general, expect to see vineyards, orchards, little wine and fruit stores and art galleries featuring work from mainly Québec-based artists.
Several of the vineyards offer berry picking as an activity and depending on the season, you will most likely be picking strawberries or apples.
