Umbria's main cheeses are: Pecorino (young), pecorino (aged a bit), and pecorino (well aged). It can grow a tad tiresome. So I was thrilled to discover this goat cheese farm outside of Orvieto. In our visit, my children helped herd the goats, watched them get fed and milked, and we sampled some goat cheese as fine as any I've ever had, with a pricetag that was shocking in its affordability. The owners are friendly and speak some English. My favorite was the fresh goat cheese mousse with the pink peppercorns, but there are some amazing others (from mild to quite strong).
