After seeing plenty of chain restaurants in the heart of Georgetown, we happened upon a lovely little restaurant, with authentic Neapolitan pizza, called Il Canale. Now, don't trust me on the authenticity; trust their Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana certification. In order to get it they have to have exactly the right sized pizzas, textured crusts and sourced (imported, of course) ingredients. And the wood-burning oven. The pizza was perfect and paired very well with the Chianti and grilled vegetable antipasto we shared.
On our way we walked through an alley that had a great looking Jazz place called Blues Alley. There was a big line and we were too hungry to wait, but next time I will definitely check it out. There is no better sign than a line in an alley!
