Iglesia de San Blas

Cusco 08000, Peru

San Blas is the bohemian district of Cusco City. This picturesque and atmospheric corner of the city is a short but steep walk from the main square. This is where you can find artists’ studios and artisans’ workshops. Look out for Mérida and mendivil, two of the most representative studios. You’ll encounter themed coffee shops, small restaurants (some of them serving vegetarian or asian food), and some of the coolest bars in the city – many of them with live music. If you get the chance, check out the local bands playing at Km 0. Many of the streets in San Blas are open only to pedestrians, making the neighborhood a perfect place to wander on foot. If you walk to the top of the hill, you may enjoy some of the greatest views of the city. Nimbus Bar features a terrace where you can bask in a spectacular, panoramic sunset view while you enjoy your choice of wine, beer, coffee, or snacks. While you’re here, be sure to visit San Blas Church, a small white building that is ostensibly the oldest parish church in Cusco. The architecture is simple, but the interior features an impressive wood-carved pulpit in the Churrigueresque style. Find the church in the small plaza at the entrance to the neighborhood, up Cuesta San Blas.
