Hilltop Obleas
Hilltop Obleas
The Iglesia de San Antonio is perched atop the hill in the midst of the historic section of Cali, in southwestern Colombia. One might think that this would be a spot exclusively for religious pilgrims and photographers seeking a panorama of the city -- but then, one clearly wouldn't be familiar with Colombia's vendors.

The hilltop is crowded with people selling everything from tagua bracelets to beer to these obleas: thin crepe-like pastries that you eat, smeared with jelly, arequipe, or some other sweet substance. At San Antonio, the plan is: go pray, eat an oblea, go home.
