Iglesia de los Santos Juanes

Explore this baroque gem in Valencia’s historic Plaza del Mercado. Intended as a hermitage when constructed, the church was built on the site of a 13th century mosque, but was seriously damaged by fire in the 14th and 16th centuries. Before going in, visitors will want to snap shots of the sculpture of the Virgin of the Rosary by Jacopo Bertesi, the iconic clock and bell tower decorating the main façade and zoom in on the church’s well-known sparrow-shaped weathercock. Inside the church, admire the gothic nave and late 17th century frescos by Antonio Palomino.
