Signs of O-bon: Time to Come Back Home to the Furusato
During the month of August, Japanese all over the country return to their hometowns to pay respects to their ancestors. This is also a time for relatives that live in other parts of the country or abroad to come together to catch up with each other.

Japan, being a country in-sync with the changing seasons utilize the Houzuki (chinese bell flower) as a popular plant to adorn one's family graves.

If one travels the country in August, you're bound to see these flowers for sale as whole plants or cut flowers.
