Icehotel
It is, quite literally, the world’s coolest hotel. Each year the Icehotel is built with blocks of ice from the Torne River, then it melts and is rebuilt to a new, even more dramatic design. It offers visitors a memorable (though not necessarily comfortable) experience—and the bragging rights and Instagram likes will make up for the challenge of sleeping in a room that is below freezing. It’s in the far north, located 125 miles inside the Arctic Circle, but if you want just a taste of the experience without having to make the long trek up to Kiruna, you can always go for a quick drink at Stockholm’s Icebar.
