Glaciers Kujalleq Greenland
Grinding glaciers shaped much of the terrain seen around Prince Christian Sound, including the fjord itself, as they flowed in super-slow motion over the granite substrate, literally carving the solid rock with the patient forces of pressure and time. Cruising through the sound offers many opportunities to see these incredible rivers of ice up close; they appear like walls or slopes of ice from the water, and they occasionally groan and crack as bergs calve from their faces, plunging into the icy sea.
