Hvitträsk was built in the early 20th century by Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren and Eliel Saarinen as a base for their architectural firm and also as a residence. (The estate was the childhood home of Eero Saarinen.) Constructed of wood and stone in the National Romantic style, Hvitträsk hosted many events with cultural luminaries in its time and is now an exhibition center for Finnish arts and crafts, with a café and an English-style garden.
