Get out on a boat
The best way to see Lake Tahoe to get out on it, or in it. The crystal-clear waters make for beautiful float-seeing. Look for big boulders below you and scan the shoreline for hidden cabins and mansions you can't see from the road. Kayaking and paddleboarding are great for shoreline exploring, but I'm partial to a ride on my friend's sailboat, Sloopy (pictured here). Hurricane Bay on the West Shore is a good roadside launch point for personal watercraft. Tahoe City Kayak has the best kayak and paddleboard rentals. Try Tahoe City or Obexer's Marinas if you have a boat.
