House 1881
Residing on the top floors of the former Marine Police Headquarters in Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui district, House 1881 offers 10 whimsical suites with sweeping views of Victoria Harbor and the Hong Kong skyline. Built in 1881, the property is a beauty of colonial arches and columns crowned by a red-tile roof; it’s one of the oldest buildings in Hong Kong. Each room was painstakingly restored and then updated with statement furnishings that recreate the nostalgic charm of Hong Kong. Corner suites feature burnished wood paneling, rich linens, and comfortable armchairs, while premier suites include distinctive furnishings and private balconies for taking in the vistas. House 1881’s higher price point means guests enjoy the butlers and shoe-shining services of the old days, alongside the minibars and turndown rituals that are expected today.More Recommendations

Formerly Known As...
There are many historical buildings in Hong Kong that have been reincarnated for modern use. The House 1881 hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, for example, tells a tale of a past life as the former Royal Marine Police Headquarters. This colonial beauty sits atop the 1881 Heritage shopping complex. Within the hotel, there are a total of five dining establishments. The hotel's Stables Steak House can be found in the space that was previously occupied by, unsurprisingly, horse stables. Stop by Café Parlour for tea and nibbles and make sure to sit out on the balcony to fully enjoy the buzz of the 1881 complex.
