Huangshan Mountain, Runzhou, Zhenjiang, China, 212000
Climbing to ParadiseI picked Huangshan for my winter vacation because there's a Chinese saying that once you've climbed Huangshan, you'll never need to climb another mountain. But it just inspired me to hike up more mountains than ever.
It hosts hundreds of different spots from which to marble at its four most beloved treasures: the sunrises, the sea of clouds, the rocks in different shapes (Flying Rock, Monkey Gazing at the Sea of Clouds....), and the pines (Unity Pine, Couples' Pine, Umbrella Pine...).
Because I went in the winter, I was also privy to the frozen waterfalls scattered on the peaks. At night, I ate one of the region's specialties, bamboo shoots with mushroom, before settling in early so I'd have the necessary energy for my next sunrise. And the last day, after my descent, I treated my limbs to half a day in Huangshan's hot springs.
