A stay at Hotel Schmelzhof feels as if you've been adopted into the charming Strolz family. Three generations of the family look over guests every need. Grandma Strolz will be the first to say good morning and pour you coffee at breakfast, which is included in the price of the stay. Gitti is responsible for the fabulous design (ask her about the super soft blue throws in the spa and she'll give your her source on where to buy them). Gitti's handsome husband, Robert, used to be the chairman of Arlberg Ski Club, and is often leads guests on hikes (always carrying a bottle of schnapps and glasses in his pack to keep guests warm). Gitti and Robert's three sons—Josef-Anton, Arthur, and Jakob—also help out but it is daughter Franziska (the baby of the family) who really rolls out the welcome mat attending to guests every need whether it be a spa appointment or a seat on the evening's sleigh ride.
The hotel offers its guests lots of chances to get to know the Strolz family. Each morning events such as sleigh rides, sausage parties or gluhwein gatherings are announced. After a day on the slopes, guests can store their equipment in the ski locker room and then retreat to the spa, which was remodeled in 2014. Soothe soar muscles in the Finnish sauna, sanarium, brine steam bath or with a massage. In the evenings guests can gather around the fire in the Blue Bar and enjoy cocktails and bistro-style dishes such as Gitti's sausage salad or opt for a gourmet experience at Gittis Esszimmer.
