Ribeauvillé is a picturesque wine town in the Alsace region of France, filled with small half-timbered buildings, friendly shop keepers, delicious French bread, and Alsatian wines, all under the background of the beautiful Vosges Mountains. I spent two days there sipping Riesling, eating creamy French dishes, and hiking up to the three castles that watch over the town.
For wine tastings, I recommend Wymann's and Jean Sipp. Both are located on the same side street, at 41 and 60, rue de la Fraternité, F-68150 RIBEAUVILLE.
We stayed in the Hotel-Restaurant au Lion, located at 6 Place de la Sinne, 68150 Ribeauville, France. The proprietor was incredibly friendly, the rooms were very nice and clean, breakfast was lovely, and the price was reasonable. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends. BUT, I'd also recommend that they go to the hotel next door, Restaurant du Mouton, for dinner. The coq au Riesling is fabulous!
We finished the weekend with a steep hike up to Chateau St. Ulrich. The view from there of the town and surrounding vineyards is absolutely breathtaking. Don't forget to bring a picnic lunch and some wine!
