NH Roma Leonardo da Vinci
NH Hotel’s in general seem to have the upper hand when it comes to opening in the best city locations. Case in point, the NH Roma Leonardo da Vinci, which is a stone’s throw away from Vatican City. This 244-room hotel is excellent for families (there are connecting rooms on each floor), and business travellers. Their suites have plenty of office space equipped desks, tables and all the outlets for computers, and USB chargers. For longer stays, consider the 2-floor suite with a giant living room and work space. Some of the 7th-floor room’s having amazing views of St. Peter’s Basilica. Again, for business travellers, this is a great location, and provides complimentary hotel services like free ironing and wifi. There are cab stands near by and the Lepanto Metro stop a five minute’s walk from the hotel. When you stay here, your back yard is basically the colossal St. Peter’s Basilica and St. Peter’s Square, a huge attraction in Vatican City and the seat of the catholic church. The Vatican Museum is fascinating, but have the hotel’s concierge reserve tickets ahead to avoid the long lines. Nearby too are the Roman ruins of Castel St. Angelo, and plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and museums to choose from, all within walking distance. At the hotel is a large bar, where guests typically gather in the evenings for a night cap. Their 324 Lounge Restaurant serves traditional Roman cuisine, but also comfort foods like burgers and fries in case you’re travelling with children with finicky palates. Lunch here is good, perfect for business meetings. They also have a very good selection of wines and spirits and small snacks if a full meal isn’t what you’re after. The vibe is cool, discreet, and the hotel is removed from the noise and maddening traffic in Rome’s ancient core.
