The flagship property of Japanese hospitality company Fujita Kanko, this 23-year-old hotel was run for two decades by Four Seasons before returning to its owner’s management in 2013. It sits in the garden of Chinzanso (meaning “villa on a mountain of camellias”), a 17-acre green oasis in the city. The grounds feature 1,000 camellia trees and 120 cherry trees. The facilities are scattered across the grounds, with a main hotel building, Tower and Plaza buildings for banquets and meetings, and restaurants set around the garden. The hotel is currently in the midst of a major renovation that will finish in March 2016, with new interiors to showcase Japanese elements, design, color themes, Arita ceramics, nishijin-ori throws (traditional textile), and ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
